Welcome to the website of the Advocates for Music Therapy Education, Inc.

AMTE was established as a nonprofit organization in 2009 in Michigan. Our organization is made up of professional music therapists, music therapy students and faculty, individuals who have disabilities or other healthcare concerns, members of their families, and other members of our communities.

We are dedicated to the advancement of the education and training of music therapists through college and university programs. In particular, we are advocating for the preservation of the oldest music therapy degree program in the world, at Michigan State University. It was established in 1944 and has placed hundreds of music therapists in clinical facilities, research centers, and universities.
